Who we are

Urban Moves has established itself as a leading independent seller of affordable housing in London the South, and South‐East. The team is highly experienced and multi-functional in all aspects of shared ownership and sales and lettings, operating with the highest level of integrity and honesty. Formed in 2000, Urban Moves have been a prominent fixture on the central and vibrant Borough High Street ever since. In December 2019, after 20 years in London Bridge, Urban Moves relocated to our new offices in Richmond upon Thames.

Why Move?

When Urban Moves opened 20 years ago, it was one of just three sales and letting agencies in London Bridge, focussed on providing services locally, to local people. Before long, we started to specialise in affordable housing and more recently started to provide services nationally.  Much as we’ll miss our little office in London Bridge, it’s just no longer suitable for a national service provider.  That being said, we’re super excited to be moving to Richmond and can’t wait to see you there.

Our History

As a focussed and single coherent office, Urban Moves have always been ‘ahead of the game’. As early adopters of technology our processes have been honed over the years to offer a clear and effective  process. Fully cloud based systems allow us to operate wherever we are. Contracts are clear and simple, signed via Adobe Echosign, from wherever you are. Consistently solid advice and exemplary service levels have allowed us to retain landlords over multiple tenancies and tenants frequently move between our managed properties. Landlords and buyers become vendors over the years, and many landlords come back to us to source further properties.

Having worked through both ‘boom and bust’ periods, we have experienced the peaks and pitfalls of the property market. Working in an increasingly expensive area of coverage, we have also been early adopters of the shared ownership ideal. We complement our open market sales and lettings market services with shared ownership sales and affordable rent instructions from some of the South’s leading Housing Associations. We’ve sold and resold hundreds of shared ownership properties worth in excess of half a billion pounds for housing associations and individuals alike.

Openness, honesty and a direct approach. If you’re trusting us with your most valuable asset, it’s the very least you should expect, but more than that, as a family business we take personal pride in a job well done. Unlike traditional chain agencies, we don’t employ commission led ‘listers’ or ‘negotiators’, so we’re focused on the bigger picture. Transparent fees with a ‘no hidden extras’ policy allow you to assess the value of our service before you commit. We fully comply with the standards and legislation required by the industry, and we work to always exceed standards and expectations daily. We take out Client Money Protection Insurance (CMP) for our clients’ piece of mind, even though a ‘real time’ payment is made on rent receipts and all client deposits lodged with the custodial DPS scheme-meaning your money is never held by us, merely ‘passing through’.
